Ella Carley

Ella M. Carley, age 98, formerly of Backus, passed away Tuesday, February 19, 2008 at Whispering Pines Good Samaritan Center, Pine River. She was born December 27, 1909, in Orange City, Iowa, to Abram and Mildred "Minnie" Van Steenwyk. She was raised on a farm near Strubel, Iowa. Ella married Ross Carley on April 18, 1929, in Elk Point, SD.
She is survived by her children: Lynne Robinson of Backus, Jerry Carley (Audrey) of Philip, SD, Robert Carley (Diane) of Omaha, Nebraska; 17 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren and 12 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ross, and son, Mike Carley.
Services will be 11 AM on Saturday, February 23 at Lakeside Baptist Church, Backus, with Pastor Jeff Broom officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
