Elizabeth Valley

Elizabeth Marie (Gorden) Valley, age 42, of Backus went home to heaven on February 21, 2011. Elizabeth was born at her home in Crystal, Minnesota on November 8, 1968, moved to Climax, Minnesota when she was 3, and accepted Jesus in her heart when she was 10. She graduated 2nd in her class in 1987, and in 1989, earned an Associates degree in dietetics, graduating with high distinction from UMC. On June 3, 1989, Elizabeth married her true love, Paul N. Valley. The couple moved several times for their jobs. Elizabeth worked as a DTR at the Mayo Medical Center in Rochester, Minnesota, and in nursing homes in Barnesville, Minnesota, and Devils Lake, North Dakota from 1989 to 2000. In 2000, the couple settled in the Pine River area and started their own HVAC business. Elizabeth also worked part time for Meals on Wheels until October of 2000 when she accepted a part time job at Pine River State Bank. In 2007, the war against cancer began. God carried her through each step of the way. Elizabeth greeted people with a smile and enjoyed her kitties, Christian praise music, traveling, playing her flute, and fun family gatherings. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her grandparents, Rudy and Alice Gorden and Raymond Johnson. She is survived by her devoted husband, Paul; parents, Reuben and Bonnie Gorden; Grandma Evie Johnson; brother, David Gorden; sister Heather Moorse (Edward); nephews and niece, Alexander, Evan, Kody, Mason Eli, and McKenna, who will all remember her has Auntie Liz; uncles, Arlen Gorden (Beth) and Jerry Gorden (Elaine); and aunt Hope Scoles (Dwight).
Services will be 1PM on Saturday, February 26 at Riverview Church in Pine River with Pastor Triston Borland officiating. Burial will be in Sandhill Lutheran Church Cemetery, Climax, Minnesota. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.
