Elinore Strand Duda, 88, of Brainerd died on Sunday, December 29, 2013 at Essentia Health/St. Joseph's Medical Center in Brainerd, MN. Services for Elinore will be Saturday, January 4, 2014 at 2:30PM at Good Samaritan Village-Bethany Chapel with Pastor David Holte officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services.
Elinore was born on July 1, 1925 in Erickson Manitoba, Canada to Oscar and Carrie (Lee) Strand. After her mother died in 1929, the family moved to Minneapolis. When father remarried in 1935 the children moved to Clarissa, MN where she graduated in 1943. Elinore worked and went to school in Minneapolis, MN. She married Lloyd Duda on September 22, 1946 in Clarissa. She retired from BRHSC in 1988. Elinore was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the VFW, and Legion Auxiliary's, GSS-Bethany Auxiliary and volunteered at the Senior Center. Elinore enjoyed and loved her family and friends very much. She had such a kind and loving heart, the lives she touched, enjoyed her presence. Elinore was a woman of faith and loved writing, cooking, sewing, and crocheting.
Elinore is survived by her children, Rachel (Gene) Woodhouse of Red Wing, Ross of Monroe, WA, Gary (Sue) Duda of Brainerd, Gail (Keith) Peters of Waconia, Carrie (Neal) Flotterud of Zumbrota, and Jane Duda Morgan of Excelsior; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; Glenne (Elaine) of Birchwood, WI; Irene Duda of Battle Lake; and many nieces and nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd; parents; two infant brothers; son, Dan Duda; sisters, Adelle Johnson and Nancy Imes; brothers, Roland and Melvin Strand; and great-grandson, Everett Wieber.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter, MN.
