Elenore Johnson

Elenore M. Johnson, age 94, of Pine River, passed away Thursday, February 5, 2015, at Sanford Medical Center in Bemidji. She was born to John and Laura Weiler in Grandview Township, Marion, ND, on January 15, 1921. She lived with her parents on a farm by Dickey, ND, and then LaMoure, ND, where her father worked as County Auditor.

Elenore was united in marriage to Howard Johnson on March 29, 1938, in Verona, ND. They farmed in North Dakota until 1948, when they moved to a farm in rural Pine River. There they raised 7 children. Besides raising the kids and farming, Elenore went to work washing dishes, waitressing and cooking in several cafes in Pine River. She then worked at Gardiner Hardware for 8 years and then 20 years for the US Postal Service in Pine River, retiring in 1983.

Elenore is survived by her son, James Johnson (Jane Enger) of Pelican Rapids, MN; 18 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; and 8 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 ½ years, Howard; baby daughter, Beverly; daughters: Norma Ware, Darla Raph; sons: Donald, Robert, David; her parents; 3 brothers and 3 sisters.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 AM on Tuesday, February 10, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Pine River. Visitation will be Monday from 5 to 7 PM, with Rosary at 7 PM, at Kline Funeral Home, Pine River, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Pine Ridge Cemetery, Pine River.
