Eleanor Hines, age 81, of Randall, MN died on Thursday, September 6, 2001 at the St. Cloud Hospital. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM on Tuesday, September 11, 2001 at St. James Catholic Church in Randall with Father David Grundman officiating. Friends may call on Monday evening from 5 to 8 PM with prayers and rosary beginning at 7 PM at the Brenny Funeral Home in Randall. Burial will be in the St. James Catholic Cemetery in Randall. Arrangements are with the Brenny Funeral Home in Randall.
Louise Eleanor Hines was born on June 6, 1920, in Barnesville, MN to Ernest and Louise (Griffin) Andres. As a young girl she moved with her family to the Randall area where she grew up and attended school. She went on to receive her Normal Teachers Training in St. Cloud and later received her bachelors degree in teaching. During World War II, Eleanor worked for the AC Spark Plug Factory in Flint, MI. On June 8, 1946, Eleanor was united in marriage to Vernon Hines at St. James Catholic Church in Randall and they made their home in Randall. She taught at several area country schools and also at the Dr. S.G. Knight Elementary School in Randall. She enjoyed the many years that she taught special education in Randall. She was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Randall and the VFW Auxiliary. Eleanor enjoyed working crossword puzzles, cooking, baking, reading and traveling. She always enjoyed providing a warm meal for the deer hunters on the farm each year. Above all she cherished the time spent with her family doting on her grandchildren.
Eleanor is survived by her husband, Vernon; a daughter, Valerie (Robert) Jeffries of Little Falls; 7 sons: Patrick (Cynthia) Hines of Apple Valley, Michael (Marlene) Hines of Randall, David Hines of Brooklyn Park, Joseph (Christa) Hines of North Pole, AK, Paul (Debra) Hines of Little Falls, James (Pamela) Hines of Randall and Gerald (Linda) Hines of Long Prairie; 21 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy (James) Newcomb of Zimmerman, MN and a brother Wallace Andres of Farmington, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter, Mary; 3 brothers: Bernard, Harold and Lawrence and a sister, Marion.
