Eileen Washburn

Eileen Marie Washburn, age 74, of Brainerd, was born to Arnold E. and Ellen M. (Calkins) Strom on November 27, 1938, in Hill Lake Township in Aitkin County, MN. She passed away at home on August 14, 2013. Growing up, she attended school in Hill City, Cohasset, and Grand Rapids, MN, and graduated from Washington High School in Brainerd in 1956.

Eileen married the love of her life, Melvin G. Washburn, on September 8, 1956, at Deer River, MN. Melvin preceded her in death on March 15, 2009. She is survived by her children: Louise E. Carlson of Brainerd, MN, Elaine A. (George) Kraemer of St. Helens, OR, Keith A. (Twila) Washburn of LaPorte, MN; grandsons: John A. Kraemer of St. Helens, OR, David G. (Rebecca) Kraemer of Holloman AFB, NM; brothers: Kenneth E. (Garnet) Strom of Cohassett, MN, Darrel R. (Donna) Strom of Plainfield, IN; and sister, Joyce E. (Gerald) Converse of Canon, CO.

Eileen was a long-time member of the Park United Methodist Church and active in the Prayer Shawl needlework group. She also had a very active association with the Country Fabrics and Quilting store for the past several years. She was very dedicated to her family and friends and was a treasure that will never be forgotten.

A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Friday, August 23, at Park United Methodist Church in Brainerd.
