Eileen Marie Koppes was born July 19, 1931, in Turtle Creek Township, Todd County, MN, the daughter of Mike and Lillian (Tepley) Meide. On February 2, 1952, she was united in marriage to Lawrence Koppes in Motley, MN. Following their marriage the couple made their home in California where Lawrence was stationed with the Marines. Following his tour of duty they returned to Staples for a short time. From there they moved to Utica, MI, where they resided for 4 years. Eileen and Lawrence came back to Staples in the fall of 1958. They purchased a farm south of Staples where they resided until their deaths. Eileen, first, was a homemaker and mother, and then she worked part-time for a few years cleaning the Sacred Heart School. In 1968 she went to work at the Mary Rondorf Home, which is now the Lakewood Manor, as a kitchen aide, then the cook, and 36 years later, in 2004, she retired. Eileen loved her farm, flowers, vegetable garden, raising chickens, displaying her Christmas scenes, and serving coffee to everyone who stopped by. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mike and Lillian; her husband, Lawrence in 1995; 2 brothers, Leo and Calvin Meide; and her twin sister, Elaine Tabery. She will be lovingly missed by her 3 sons, Mike (Yolanda) Koppes of Staples, Lon (Eve) Koppes of Motley, Craig (Tara) Koppes of Coon Rapids, MN; 2 daughters, Penny (Mike) Wolpert of Aldrich, MN and Kim (Steve) Miller of Staples; 9 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren. Casketbearers will be her 3 sons, Mike, Lon, and Craig; 2 sons-in-law, Mike Wolpert and Steve Miller; and 3 grandsons, Mike Wolpert Jr., Joey and Shayne Koppes. Honorary casketbears will be her remaining grandchildren. To send a message of comfort and support for the family visit www.brenny.com.
