Edwin O'Day

Edwin L. O?Day, age 94, of Brainerd, MN died Saturday, December 21, 2002 at the Trillium Eldershare Assisted Living Home in Brainerd. Edwin was born December 6, 1908 in Aitkin to Thomas and Lillian (Ivy) O?Day. He was married to Rachel Robinson on June 20, 1934 in Richland Center, Wisconsin. They moved to Brainerd in 1937 where he worked for the Minnesota DNR (Department of Natural Resources) Game and Fish for over 30 years until his retirement. As a spin-off from his work he truly loved fishing and hunting. Edwin was a member of the Eagle?s in Brainerd for many years. He was also the secretary of the Musicians? Union in Brainerd. He was part of a band called Art and the Playboys in the Brainerd area. The Brainerd Daily Dispatch ran many articles submitting pictures for his beautiful flower gardens and was recognized at many local fairs over the years.

O?Day is survived by his 3 Daughters: Diane Leslie & husband Tristan of Palm Coast, FL; Darlene Gruenwald of Brainerd; Vickie Bakkila & husband Maurice of Brainerd, 3 Sons: James O?Day of Brainerd; Michael O?Day and wife Rose of Pillager; Kevin & wife Denise of Baxter, 1 sister, June McBride of Eugene, Oregon, 1 brother, Clyde Day of Eugene, Oregon, 24 Grandchildren, 52 Great Grandchildren, 6 Great-Great Grandchildren. Edwin was preceded in death by his wife Rachel in 1998, Parents, 4 Brothers, 2 sisters, 1 Grandson and 1 Granddaughter.

Services will be on Friday January 10, 2003 at 11:00 am at the Assembly of God Church in Brainerd with Youth Pastor Doug Vagle officiating. Visitation will be from 3 ? 7 PM Thursday January 9, 2003 and 1 hour before the services at the church. Inurnment will be at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be directed to the Edwin L.
