Edward (Ed) Vogel, 70, of Staples, MN died Monday, May 11, 2015 at his home. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00AM, Friday, May 15, 2015 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Staples, MN with Father Joe Korf officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00PM, Thursday, May 14, 2015 at Brenny Funeral Chapel in Staples, MN, with a prayer service at 7:00PM and also one hour prior to services on Friday at the church. Military Honors provided by Wadena VFW Post 3922. Interment will be at Evergreen Hill Cemetery in Staples, MN.

Ed was born August 24, 1944 in Brainerd, MN to Melvin and Bernadine (Cronin) Vogel. He was raised on a farm in Leader. He graduated from Motley High School in 1962. Ed then went on to Staples Vo-Tech and graduated from the Heavy Equipment program. He later became a welder and pipefitter. He entered the US Army in 1965 and served in Vietnam. Ed was united in marriage to Belva Mertens on May 18, 1974 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Staples, MN. He and Belva owned and operated many rental properties. Ed will be remembered as being honest and hardworking, always keeping busy with his projects. He especially enjoyed his family and grandchildren.

Ed is survived by his wife, Belva; children, Jeffrey (Jeanne) Vogel of St. Cloud, MN, Joey (Laura) Vogel of Rochester, MN, Julie (David) Fujan of Crystal, MN, Jenna (Justin Roelofs) Vogel of Mankato, MN; siblings, Mary Bendson, Ronald Vogel, Richard Vogel, Donald Vogel, Marvin Vogel, Diane Moon, Darlene Houle, Arline Sebring; six grandchildren, Shelby, Kalin, Carson, Evan, Logan and Blake. He is preceded in death by his parents. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Staples, MN.
