Edward Shetka

Edward Thomas Shetka, Jr., age 84, passed away Thursday, November 8, 2018, at his home in Fifty Lakes, MN. He was born May 22, 1934, in St. Paul, MN, to Edward and Blandina Shetka.

Ed grew up in the St. Paul area and graduated from Cretin High School. From the time he was a young boy, he grew up loving the outdoors - from duck hunting to fishing. He was proud of his sportsman abilities and never tired of sharing his knowledge and experience with his family and all who would listen.

Ed married Nancy Jean Cline on September 18, 1954 and was a loving and attentive husband for 64 years. He worked as a Master Plumber for Local #34, worked enthusiastically as a swim coach for the neighborhood Catholic grade school and was a weekend Crosslake vacationer until he and his family moved to Fifty Lakes, MN in 1974. Ed put his excess energy into other projects right away. He was proud to serve on the Fifty Lakes City Council and the Pine River School Board and he was a tireless advocate for the citizens and the children in his district.

Most importantly, Ed was a family man; a loving husband and father who wanted nothing more than to be home with his wife, kids and grandkids. He is survived by his wife, Nancy; children: Lorie Johnson (Randy), Edward Shetka III (Barb), Kathy Murrer (Ted), Theresa Fox (Rick), Jennifer Schroeder (Bill); 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Ronald Shetka; his stepfather, Al Stevenson; and his stepsisters, Donna and Barbara.
