Edward James Holtze age 94 of Crosslake passed away on Friday February 23, 2024. Memorial service and celebration of Old Man Rivers Life to be held on May 18, 2024 at Moonlight Bay in Crosslake. There will be a Military Honors Service at 11 AM followed by a gathering of family and friends.
Edward “Jim” was born April 14, 1929 in MPLS, MN to Edward Walter and Irene (Bourdeau) Holtze. Edward graduated from North High School in June of 1947 and joined the Marine Corp that same month. Edward served in the Marine Corp from June of 1947 to April 1952. He served as a radio operator with the First Marine Division in the Korean War from 1950-1951.
Edward “Jim” was united in marriage to Margret Beideck on September 20,1952 at the Little Brown church in Nashua, Iowa. They made their home in Bloomington Mn for 40 years where they raised their two wonderful children. Edward “Jim” worked as the Culligan Man for 32 years while spending his free time hunting, fishing, and camping with family in northern Minnesota. Edward “Jim” has been enjoying the good life with family and friends for the last 30 years in Crosslake.
Edward “Jim” is survived by 1 daughter, Debra Alt of Shell Lake Wisconsin; 1 son Michael and wife Betty Holtze of Crosslake, 4 granddaughters, Christi, Lindsay, Laura, and Danielle; 5 great grandchildren, Grace, Korah, Kenley, Ean and Emma. He was proceeded in dead by his wife Margret; parents Edward Walter and Irene Holtze.
Arrangements are entrusted to Brenny Family Funeral Chapel, Crosslake.
