Edward Hellekson

Edward “Ed” Donald Hellekson, age 52, died Tuesday, January 7, 2020 at the St. Cloud Hospital embraced by his loving family. Funeral Services will be at 6PM on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at the Brenny Family Funeral Chapel in Baxter. Rev. Eric Holst will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to services on Saturday at the funeral home in Baxter.

Ed was born on September 1, 1967 in Spokane, WA to Spencer and Melinda (Lum) Hellekson. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of North Dakota and furthered his education in obtaining his Law Degree from the University of North Dakota School of Law. Ed married Heidi Fettig; the couple had two children and later divorced. He then married Melanie Sorenson on August 14, 2010 in Lakeshore. Ed owned and operated several businesses including: Hellekson Law, Wealth Retirement Group, and Ascent Investment Advisory, LLC. He was elected to the Order of the Barristers for excellency in appellate advocacy. Ed enjoyed traveling, golfing, cooking hunting, fishing, and finding solace outdoors. He was witty, loving, passionate, and faithful and will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Above all else, Ed went all in, with any endeavor he was faced with throughout life; but he always remembered to live in the moment.

Ed is survived by his loving wife, Melanie; children, Hannah of Los Angeles, CA; Ethan (Heyli Howard) of St. Paul; father, Spencer of Grand Forks, ND; siblings, Sarah of Jamestown, ND, Eric (Jennifer) of Detroit Lakes, Ben (Crystal) of East Grand Forks, MN; father and mother-in-law, Wayne (Diane) Sorenson of Park Rapids; sister-in-law, Nicole (Ray) Simpson of Park Rapids; nieces and nephews, Lily Gustafson, Dane Hellekson, Audrey Hellekson, Blake Simpson, and Kendra Simpson.  He was preceded in death by his mother, Melinda.

In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred.
