Edward Dailey

Edward W. Dailey was born in Poplar Township on September 10, 1919 to James K. Dailey and Florence (Peterson) Dailey. He grew up with his family in Poplar Township. As a young man he served two years in the CCC camp working on the Gun Flint Trail. He was united in marriage to Esther Hanson, on July 4, 1942 in Cass County. He farmed for several years in the Oylen area before moving to Johnson, MN where he had an antique shop and bought and sold machinery. He returned to the Wadena area in 2003. His hobbies included coin collecting, horses and flea markenting. He enjoyed deer hunting and fishing. He is survived by his first wife and the mother of his children, Esther (Hanson) Dailey of Wadena; 3 children, Janice (Gene) Lenk of Browerville, Phyllis Dailey of Wadena, Roger (Debbie) Dailey of Wadena; daughter-in-law Connie Dailey of Oylen; 1 sister, Ruth of Little Falls; ten grandchildren, James (Shelley) Dailey , Brenda (Chris) Miles , Roxane (Dave) Hoover, Ginger (Nathan) Fields, Kelly (Dennis) Hardekopf, Chad (Mandy) Lenk, Terri (Dave) Wohlert, Chris, Tara, and Jeff Dailey; eleven great-grandchildren, Chris and Ashley Miles, Lacey and McKenna Fields, Caleb, Jessah, and Hannah Hardenkopf, Billy and Nicholas Conte, and Katelyn and Carter Lenk; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, James Edward; a daughter and son in law, Beverly and Ernie Sarkela; 4 brothers, Laurence, Harold, Fred, infant brother Buddy; and 1 sister Dorothy.
