Edward G. Czech
, age 91, of Minneapolis and recently Brainerd, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 3, 2016, in Brainerd. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, September 8, at 11 AM, at St. Francis Catholic Church in Brainerd. Visitation will be Wednesday, September 7, from 6-8:00 PM, at Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter, as well as one hour prior to Mass at the church on Thursday. Interment will be at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery, on Friday, September 9, at 1 PM.
Edward was born in Royalton, and served in the Navy aboard the GUAM during WWII. He spent his life raising five sons, and worked at Northern States Power for 39 years. He enjoyed fishing at their home on South Long Lake and taking care of their home in Minneapolis. After his retirement he helped many of the elderly residents in his neighborhood in Minneapolis take care of their yards. He and Evelyn took many local road trips, and Edward spent the last day of his driving career on a daylong road trip around the South Minneapolis area.
Edward is survived by his sons, Michael, James, Thomas, Kevin, and Eddie; his grandchildren, Ann, Lisa, Robert, Megan, Halle, Emma, Houston, Roman, Ruth, and Anton; and his great-grandchildren, Jack, Drew, Will, and Oliver. He was preceded in death by Evelyn, his wife of 63 years. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Francis Catholic Church Building Fund, 404 North 9th Street, Brainerd, MN 56401.
