Earl T. Swanson, 83, of Baxter, formerly of St. Paul, died Thursday, January 26, 2006 at his home in Baxter. Memorial services will be Thursday, February 2, at 1 pm, at Henry-Holcomb-Boom Funeral Home, 536 N. Snelling Ave., St. Paul. Friends may visit during the hour prior to services.
Earl was born December 30, 1922 at East Chain, Minnesota, son of Floyd and Alice (Olien) Swanson. After graduating high school, Earl enlisted in the Navy where he served during WWII. He was united in marriage to Florence Bosland August 5, 1946. Earl was a fireman for 23 years for the city of St. Paul. After retiring from the fire department, Earl owned and operated a moving business. After retirement, the couple moved to Holiday, FL where they lived for 20 years before returning to Minnesota in 1996. They moved to the Brainerd Lakes area two years ago. Earl was a Mason for 50 years, as well as an active member of the Shriners, Rotary and Jaycees.
Earl will be missed by his wife, Florence; his daughters, Janet (Dave) Walker, of Arcada, CA, Rosemary (Dennis) Schanzenbach, of Brainerd, and Susan Otterness, of St. Paul; sister, Georgine Hull, of Hanover, PA; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
