Earl Star, age 86, of Backus, died Tuesday, April 4, 2006 at St. Josephs Medical Center in Brainerd. Memorial services will be Saturday, April 15, at 2 pm, at the Lakewood Cemetery Chapel in Minneapolis. Earls cremated remains will be inurned with those of his wife at the Lakewood Columbarium.
Earl Star was born September 5, 1919 in Pine City to Frank and Adeline (Swanson) Star. He served in the US Army during WWII. He was united in marriage to Hazel Troolin. After his military service he worked as a city bus driver in Minneapolis for many years. Following his retirement in the late 1970s the couple moved to their retirement home in Backus. They wintered in Texas. Earl was a member of the VFW and the American Legion, and had been a member of the Masonic lodge since 1974.
Earl is survived by his children, Deanne (John) Greco, Bloomington, Franklin (Mary) Star, Cottage Grove, and Jackie Star, Backus; two grandchildren, CJ and David Star; and two great-grandchildren, AJ and Charleston Star. His parents, his wife, and a sister, Mabel, preceded him in death.
