Earl Joseph Funk, 83, of Baxter died at his home on Sunday, January 13, 2013. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, January 17, 2013 at 11:00 AM at St. Francis Catholic Church in Brainerd, MN with visitation one hour prior to services at the church with Father Dan Weiske officiating, Military Honors from the VFW Post 1647 of Brainerd. Interment at the Baxter City Cemetery.
Earl was born on October 13, 1929 in Brainerd, MN to Carl and Marie (Benoit) Funk. Earl was a member of the United States Army. He married Vida Abroe on December 4, 1954 in Brainerd, MN. Earl worked for Burlington Northern Railroad for 44 years. He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church in Brainerd, MN. Earl received many safety and attendance awards. His interests included hunting, fishing, and shooting practice. Earl enjoyed going to the casino.
Earl is survived by his children; Terri (Jerry) Jaker of Elk River, MN, Joni (Gerald) Bonnette in Comstock, WI, and Steve (Cheryl) Funk of McCook Lake, SD; grandchildren, Doug, Dan, Mike, Jeremy, and Alicia; great-grandchildren, Eli, Kyla, Jacob, and Taycee; sister, Fran Dionisio of Schaumberg, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Vida. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel of Baxter, MN.
