Durane "Doc" Cadwell

Durane “Doc” O. Cadwell, 90, of Pine River passed away on January 7, 2024, comfortably at home surrounded by family.

Funeral services will take place at First Lutheran Church, Pine River, MN, on Saturday, January 27th at 11 AM. A visitation will take place one hour prior to services. Luncheon to follow. Interment will be in the spring at Doc’s final resting place, Camp Ripley.

Doc was born in Walker, MN on April 5, 1933, to Edna and John E. Cadwell. The family moved to Pine River, and he graduated from Pine River High School in 1951. After graduation, he enlisted in the Navy. After returning he attended UMD where he later met and married Anita D. Amundson on September 1, 1956, sharing 67 years of marriage. They had 4 children and 2 grandchildren. Doc was an active member of the Pine River Community, serving on many organizations: past Commander of the American Legion Post 613, Color Guard member, a lifetime VFW member, former City Council member, and a 40&8 member. His favorite past time was fishing; water+boat+fish and “Doc was there”.

Doc is survived by his wife, Anita D. Cadwell; his children, Allen, Thomas (Sharon Hardon), Douglas (Rebecca); grandchildren, Andrew (Brianna Jankovich), and Jason Cadwell. He is preceded in death by his parents Edna and John; siblings, Winston, Faith Cadwell (Arboleda), Myles, Graydon, Laverne Cadwell (Maehre), Eugene, Bruce; and son, Donald.

Special thank you to the hospice team from Nisswa Good Samaritan, the wonderful care team from Good Neighbor, the staff at Kline Funeral Home, and all that visited during his last days-until he gained his wings.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Pine River Area Food Shelf.
