Duane Osmonson

Duane O. Osmonson, age 85, of Staples passed away November 27, 2016 at the St. Cloud Hospital. Memorial Mass will be Friday, December 16, at 11 AM, at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Austin. Visitation will be at the church during the hour prior to Mass.

Duane was born December 7, 1930 in Manchester, Minnesota, to Rufus and Valda (Boe) Osmonson. He was united in marriage to Betty Pump at St. Augustine's Church in Austin, on December 2, 1950. In 1952 Duane entered the US Army, where he served for 21 years. He was the Maintenance Director for the Gerard School in Austin for many years. Duane was a member of St. Augustine's; he also attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Staples. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and the Eagles club. A hobby farmer, Duane enjoyed gardening and raising flowers. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing, dancing, and playing cards.

Duane is survived by Betty, his wife of 65 years; his children, Cheryl Osmonson, of Rochester, Greg Osmonson, of Staples, Brian (Lynette) Osmonson, of Pattonsburg, MO, Cynthia (Bruce) Whiteaker, of Austin, Keith (Julie) Osmonson, of Hutchinson, and Carolyn Osmonson, of Austin; 18 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; four brothers, James, Merlin, Errol, and Craig; and two sisters, Dorothy and Marilyn. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Lowell and Don, and two infant brothers.

In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to donor's favorite charity.
