Dr. Gary Arthur Mohrenweiser, age 77, of Onamia died Monday, October 21, 2019 at Edgewood Vista Senior Living in Brainerd. In accordance with Gary’s wishes a private family gathering will be held.

Dr. Gary Arthur Mohrenweiser was born September 22, 1942 in Brainerd to Arthur and Leona (Schmidtbauer) Mohrenweiser. He grew up on his family’s farm in Onamia. Following his graduation from high school, Gary furthered his education at the University of Minnesota where he obtained his Bachelor’s of Science (1964) in Physical Science and later his Ph. D (1969) in Education Administration. Gary started his own company Education Management Services, Inc. which provided planning, management, financial and software consulting to education and government agencies; the company was later sold to McGraw-Hill. Gary also served as the Chairman of both the MNSCU Board of Education and Eden Prairie School Board.  He had an amazing work ethic which always kept him busy. Gary loved his family farm, tapping Maple trees for syrup and growing his vegetable garden bigger every year.  He was humble, kind, generous, and cared deeply about the value of education. Gary will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Dr. Gary Mohrenweiser is survived by his children, Melissa Mohrenweiser, M.D. of Wayzata, Matt (April) Mohrenweiser of Brainerd; grandchildren, Miriam, and Niklas Mohrenweiser; brother, Greg (Carol) Mohrenweiser of Onamia; niece and nephews, Patrick, Katie, and Andrew.  He was preceded in death by his parents and infant son, Mark Mohrenweiser.
