Dr. Kloster

May 12, 1964 — August 9, 2011

Dr. John Nels Kloster, of Breezy Point was born on May 12, 1964 in Fargo, ND to Thomas Kloster and Phyllis Ristuben Kloster. John grew up in Moorhead, MN, enjoying the quintessential boyhood pursuits of baseball, summers at the lake cottage and paper delivering, along with his older brother, Tom Kloster (Hudson, WI). After graduating from Moorhead High School he attended Concordia College in Moorhead where he met his wife to be, Deneen Blackley (formerly of Afton), and graduated with a major in biology and a minor in chemistry. Following college he pursued a career in optometry at Southern California College of Optometry. After graduation in 1990 he purchased a practice in Pequot Lakes and started an office in Crosslake. John and Deneen went on to have three children: Eric (20), Anna (18) and Jack (14) and fulfilled his dream of living among the lakes and woods of Minnesota, enjoying his favorite activity, fishing. He is known and remembered for his dedication and commitment to his family, his patients, and his ever growing love for his LORD, Jesus Christ. His nearly two year fight against terminal brain tumors eventually transformed into a fight to get to his Heavenly home.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents and deeply missed by his wife, children, parents, brother, extended family, friends and patients.

Visitation is from 5-7 PM on Wednesday, August 17 at The Log Church in Crosslake, preceding the 7 PM funeral. A private burial will be August 18th at the Pelican Woods Cemetery.

Memorials will go toward Christian missions work, and are appreciated in lieu of flowers. John's CaringBridge site: http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/johnkloster
