Douglas Tangwall

Doug Tangwall, Sr., 73, of Brainerd, passed away Thursday, January 20, 2011 at his home. Services for Doug will be held at 4:00 PM, Tuesday, January 25, 2011 at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter. Family and friends are welcome to gather an hour prior to the service and are invited to stay after for a luncheon at the Brenny Funeral Chapel Reception Room. Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Brainerd.

Douglas Lee Tangwall was born December 13, 1937, in Duluth, MN, the son of Arthur and Edna (Gallagher) Tangwall. He moved to Brainerd with his mother when he was three years old. After graduating from Brainerd High School, he continued his education at the University of Minnesota - Duluth and Brainerd Community College. For 25 years, Doug worked as a mason and bricklayer. He then worked for the Department of Military Affairs until December of 2009 when he retired as a Facility Maintenance Supervisor. He was united in marriage to Jane Rapien on March 28, 1982 in Brainerd. Doug enjoyed golfing and fishing.

He will be missed by his wife, Jane; his children with his first wife, Douglas Lee, Jr. (Lili) Tangwall, of Madison, WS and Lynn (Tim) Pyfferoen, of Lakeville, MN; his daughter with Jane, Sarah Tangwall, of Inver Grove Heights, MN; his grandchildren, Nicholas, Sylvia, Cameron, and Claire; and his brothers, Arthur Tangwall, of White Bear Lake and Raymond (Melody) Tangwall, of Aberdeen, SD; as well as his aunt, Elsie Tangwall of Duluth, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents.
