Dorris was pregnant with Marlene when Bob left and she stayed with her parents at the Arvig Telephone Company home during the war. She worked for the telephone company during the war years. After the war, Bob and Dorris bought a farm west of Nisswa where they farmed together while Bob worked part time at the telephone company. They raised a family of 2 girls and 2 boys. Dorris stayed home raising her children and she was a wonderful mother and cook. Dorris did a great deal of gardening and canning, even helping Bob raise many chickens.
They eventually sold the farm and moved to Pine River in 1958 because the telephone company needed him full time. They spent the next 66 years of their lives in Pine River. They recently celebrated their 73rd wedding anniversary. Their heavy involvement in the telephone company helped them serve the community by providing needed telephone and communication services. Bob and Dorris were very dedicated to raising their family and supporting their local community church.
Bob and Dorris moved into the Senior Class Care together on December 1, 2014. Bob passed away on December 27, 2014. They are now reunited in the presence of the Lord. Dorris is also preceded in death by her daughter, Rose.
