Dorothy Weller, 91, of Crosslake, MN passed away peacefully on Saturday, Aug. 31,2024 in Maple Grove, MN. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wed. Sept. 11, 2024 at 1 PM at Immaculate Heart Catholic Church in Crosslake, MN with visitation one hour prior to service at the church. Interment will follow at the Pinewood Cemetery in Crosslake, MN.
Dorothy was born on Feb. 1,1933 in Crosslake, MN to Glee and Evelyn (Lundgren) Boozell. She grew up in Crosslake and moved to Minneapolis as a young adult where she met the love of her life, Kenneth Weller. While in Minneapolis, she worked in a secretarial pool in the insurance and banking industries. Kenny and Dorothy married on June 21,1955, built a home in Golden Valley, MN where they raised their three children. Dorothy worked at the local Warner’s Hardware store, and was involved in the community holding several roles in the Golden Valley VFW Ladies Auxiliary, participated in the Medicine Lake Garden Club, active in a bowling league and involved in her daughters’ Camp Fire youth program.
Dorothy welcomed all into her home and helped wherever possible. There was always a bed available for visitors or those who needed a place to stay through hardship or to get settled in Minneapolis.
She and Kenny retired to Crosslake in 1998. She was actively involved in the Crosslake community through the Red Hats and church. Dorothy loved life, spending time with her family, camping, traveling, gardening, singing and dancing. Dorothy was always grateful and full of grace. Her kindness and compassion touched all, and spanned generations.
Dorothy is survived by her children, Sandi (Bill) Weller of Tamarack, MN, Greg (Mary) Weller of Edina, MN, Cheryl (Greg) Graham of Dayton, MN; grandchildren, Jessica Bovitz, Marissa Weller, Tyler, Seth and Ryan Graham; great grandchildren, Sam, Luke and Kate Bovitz; brothers and sisters, Les Boozell, Carol West and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband Kenny; parents, Glee and Evelyn Boozell; stepfather, Archie LaSart; siblings, Mary Auer, Will Boozell, Betty Mills, Dan LaSart, Gary LaSart, Baby LaSart, Gertrude Shead and Grata Stevens. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral in Baxter, MN.
The family wants to express sincere appreciation to the staff at Arbor Lakes Senior Living for their love and compassion in caring for mom.
