Dorothy G. Stokke, 83, of Baxter, died Tuesday, January 30, 2007 at St. Joseph's Medical Center in Brainerd. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM, Monday, February 5 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Brainerd with Father Kristoffer McKusky officiating. Family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 1-4 PM at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter. Interment will follow services at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery near Camp Ripley.
Dorothy Gertrude Daoust was born June 4, 1923 to Edward and Jennie (Lambert) Daoust in Brooks, Minnesota. She was a graduate of Nashwak High School. In 1947, Dorothy was united in marriage to Kenneth Stokke. She worked as a clothing manager for a number of years as well as being a homemaker. Dorothy was also an area supervisor for the federal program, Minnesota Green Thumbs. The couple moved to Brainerd years ago. Dorothy enjoyed card clubs and senior dances. She loved being outdoors and visiting state parks. She liked listening to country music. During the last few years, Dorothy cherished the many memories of her life.
Dorothy is survived by her children, Janie (Tim) Kuiper, of Mankato and Alan (Sandy) Stokke, of Fargo, ND; her sister, Catherine Conway, of Rifle, CO; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, three sisters and four brothers.
