Dorothy Moneta

Dorothy Moneta, age 67, of Motley, passed away at her home on Sunday, July 27. Funeral services are planned for Thursday, July 31 at 11:00 am at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Staples with Fr. Scott Wittkop officiating. The visitation will be Wednesday evening from 5-7 at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Motley Public Cemetery. Dorothy was born on June 22, 1941, in Staples, MN, to Ernest and Iness Allee. She grew up in Motley and attended school there, graduating from the 12th grade. In 1961 she married Joseph Moneta and they shared many happy years of together until he passed away in 1992. She worked as a bartender, cook, and waitress most of her life but she is best known for her sewing. Dorothy is survived by her children, Cindy Swanson, Rita (Jeff) Barber, Mary (Russ) Kowalzek, John (Maggie) Moneta; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; parents, Ernest and Iness Allee; 3 sisters; 2 brothers; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Sr.; son, Joseph Jr.; granddaughter, Jessica; and brother, Albert. Arrangements are entrusted to the Brenny Funeral Home in Staples.
