Dorothy Evelyn Kominek, of rural Motley, passed away on Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at Good Samaritan Village - Bethany at the age of 89. A Funeral Service will be held at 1:30 PM, Monday, August 15, at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter. Family and friends are invited to gather one hour prior to services and to stay for a luncheon and fellowship following the service. Interment will take place at Cushing Union Cemetery.
Dorothy was born December 8, 1921 in Parkers Prairie. She graduated from Pillager High School in 1940. Dorothy was a homemaker, and later worked as a seamstress at area garment companies. She also provided daycare for a few families. She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Motley. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and sewing. She also liked to fish, listen to "old-time" music and dance. Dorothy cherished the time she was able to spend with her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Albert; son, Lauren; parents, James and Mary Frederickson; sister, Olive; and brother, Maynerd. She is survived by her daughters, Donna (Robert) Schultz, of Brainerd and Shirley (Danny) Danielson; sons, Dale, of Nisswa and Gary (Anne), of Minnetonka; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and her special friend and companion, Arnie Olson.
