Dorothy Heino

Dorothy Victoria Heino, 87, resident of Pine River, passed away Thursday, March 5, 2015, at Essentia Health Hospital, Brainerd. Dorothy was born in Walden Township to George and Elizabeth (Huschle) Zupon on July 19, 1927. She married Charles Heino on February 14, 1946. Together they had a dairy farm in Walden Township and raised their five children. After retiring from farming, Dorothy worked for Silver Sands and Clamshell Resorts during the summer. She sold the farm in 1996 and built a house on the Pine River Golf Course.

Dorothy was a lifetime member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Pine River, a member of RSVP and a volunteer at the Pine River Area Food Shelf.

She is survived by her children: Elizabeth Nennig (Nick), Charlene Rice (Jim), Joseph Heino (Charlotte), Martin Heino (Sandy), MaryKay Lael (John); 7 grandchildren; 2 step granddaughters; 9 great grandchildren; 3 step great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; brothers: Walter, Martin, Gilbert and Albert Zupon; and sisters: Irene Crimmins, Eleanor Cash and Mary Warren.

No funeral services will be held at this time. Memorials may be given to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church or the Pine River Area Food Shelf.
