Dorothy L. Hedlund, age 95, of Pine River passed away Friday, November 19, 2010 at the Samaritan House in Brainerd, MN. She was born July 17, 1915 in Walden Township, Rural Pine River to George and Eva (Lindfors) Olson. She grew up in Walden Township and attended the Klath Country School and graduated from Pine River High School in 1933. She attended Normal Training and had taught for an area country school for a year. Dorothy married Victor Hedlund in 1935 and moved to Maple Township where they farmed.
Dorothy was a member of the Pine River American Legion Auxiliary, local homemaker club, a charter member of the Maple Hill Lutheran Church where she was active and Treasurer of the ladies circle and had also been a Maple Hill 4H Leader.
She enjoyed gardening, embroidery, quilting, cooking and canning, traveling and taking care of her family.
Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Mary (Tom) DeBoer of Mountain Top, PA and Anita (Donald) Wallin of Pequot Lakes, MN; daughters-in-law, Gloria Hedlund of Pine River and Grace Hedlund of New York; son-in-law, Bill McGill of Pine River, fourteen grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Victor, two sons, Donald and Paul; daughter, Deloris; three brothers, Frank, Walter and Fred; and three sisters, Anna, Helen and Ruth.
Funeral Services will be 11 am Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at the Pequot Lakes Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Pine Ridge Cemetery at 2:30 pm on Tuesday. Visitation will be on Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Kline Funeral Home of Pine River and will continue one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
