Dorothy Barthel

Dorothy A. (Kallstrom) Barthel, 82, of Garrison, passed away Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at Bethany Good Samaritan Village in Brainerd, MN. Services for Dorothy will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, September 18, 2010 at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Garrison. Friends are welcome to gather one hour prior to services. A second service will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, September 20, 2010 at United Methodist and Presbyterian Church in Browns Valley, MN. Friends are also welcome to gather there one hour prior to services. Interment will follow the services on Monday at Valley View Cemetery in Browns Valley, MN. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to organizations assisting with Leukemia Cancer Research.

Dorothy was born December 13, 1927 in Ortonville, MN, the daughter of Russell W. and Alice (Poel) Drake. Dorothy worked for over 30 years at Fairview Hospital in Minneapolis as a lab clerk. She enjoyed antiques and was an avid volunteer for Ford Care Givers in the Garrison Area.

She will be missed by her husband, Norman Barthel; her sisters, Pearl Smith Sjelin, of Annandale and Frances (Harold) Hanson, of Deerwood; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her first husband, Howard Kallstrom.
