Dorothea W. Tower, 87, of Staples, died Thursday, March 12, 2009 at the St. Cloud Hospital. Services for Dorothea will be at 11 AM, Tuesday, March 17 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Staples with Pastor Robin Collins and Pastor Ed Koehler officiating. Friends are welcome to gather Monday evening from 5-7 PM at the Brenny Funeral Chapel of Staples. Interment at Evergreen Hill Cemetery in Staples.
Dorothea was born June 28, 1921 in Southwestern Minnesota, the daughter of Louie and Anna Conrad. At an early age, she and her family moved to the Eagle Bend area where she graduated from high school. Dorothea furthered her education by graduating with a degree in education from St. Cloud State University and later obtaining her Masters Degree from Bemidji State University. For more than 40 years, she taught 5th grade at Staples Elementary. When she retired, Dorothea was a devoted care giver for her family and church community.
She truly enjoyed her family, especially her granddaughters. She liked music, gardening, crossword puzzles and the outdoors.
Dorothea will be missed by her son, James (Carol) Tower, of Baxter, MN and her grandchildren, Briana and Haley. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Jathea Adams; her husband, James H. Tower; her parents; and a brother.
