Dorotha was born on August 25, 1921 in East Chain Township, Martin County, MN to Charles Henry and Sylvia (Whitman) Zehm. She graduated from East Chain High in 1939. Dorotha was united into marriage to Jens Andrew Andersen on August 27, 1940 in Algona, IA. She worked as a LPN at St. Luke's Lutheran Nursing Home in Blue Earth, MN for 21 years. Jens and Dorotha lived on a farm north of Blue Earth for many years. Dorotha moved to St. Clair upon retiring from St. Luke's Lutheran Nursing Home in 1985. She then moved to Brainerd in 2008, and resided at Oak Crest Manor II. Dorotha enjoyed raising all six of her children and loved them dearly. She liked gardening and her flowers. She loved helping others that is one of the reasons she was such a wonderful nurse. She loved traveling with friends and family throughout the United States, Denmark, and Europe. Dorotha especially loved the time she spent with family, holidays, reunions, and dinners with co-workers at St. Luke's.
Dorotha is survived by her children, Elaine (Earl) Johnson of Brainerd, MN, Sylvan (Bonnie) Andersen of Red Wing, MN, Linda (Roger) Joyce of Merrifield, MN, Debbie (Bill) Mostrom of Faribault, MN, Steven (Judy) Andersen of South Carolina, and Velann Andersen of Minneapolis, MN; eleven grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; and brother-in-law, Bill Andersen of California.
