Doris Nelson, age 68, of Crosslake, died Friday night (January 30th, 2004) at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 4th, 2004 at 11:00 in the Crosslake Presbyterian Church with Reverend Ray Larson officiating. Burial will follow in the Pinewood Cemetery. Relatives will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 4 to 8 at the Brenny Funeral Home in Crosslake
Doris M. Nelson was born on September 14th, 1935 in Ayr, North Dakota to Robert and Mildred (Johnson) Riedel. She grew up in St. Paul and graduated from Wilson High School. On June 9th, 1956 she married Norman Nelson. For 17 years she worked as the office manager for Valley Medical in Chaska. Doris and Norm moved to the Crosslake area in 1986. Doris has been very active in the development of the Crosslake Presbyterian Church and was a charter member both here and in the start up of the Shepard of the Hill Presbyterian Church in Chaska. She was also a member of the Crosslake Lions, the Clothes Closet, and the American Legion Auxiliary, helped with worship as church organist, as well as serving in many of the church?s boards and committees.
Doris is survived by her husband; Norm, 2 children; John (Debra) Nelson of Chaska, and Nancy (Peter) Parris of Waconia, a brother; Wallace (Lillian) Riedel of Hudson, Wisconsin, 4 grandchildren; Geri, Matthew, Nicholas, and Kathleen, as well as several nieces and nephews.
