Doris Johnson

Doris M. Johnson, 86, of East Gull Lake, MN, died Tuesday, March 23, 2004 at St. Joseph?s Medical Center in Brainerd, MN. Doris was born January 1, 1918 to William and Mabel (Busbey) Maust in Brainerd. She attended Brainerd Area Schools and graduated in 1936. She was united in marriage to Ernest Johnson September 16, 1936 in Brainerd. During WWII she operated the Bomber Plant in Upslant, MI. Together with her husband, she owned and operated Brainerd Blacktop Company for ten years. Doris enjoyed her children and grandchildren; quilt making; gardening; flowers; playing the piano and organ and cooking. Doris and Ernest are members of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Brainerd.
Doris is survived by her husband of 68 years, Ernest; her daughters, Sharon (John) Morrison, of Brainerd, Bernadine (Trevor) Delafield, of Adelphi, MD, Roberta (Larry) Christensen, of Orlando, FL, and Diane (Kon) Sorensen, of Hutchison, MN; her daughter-in-law, Paulette Johnson, of Orlando, FL; her sisters, Lois Wheeler, of Mesa, AZ, Mabel Jarboe, of Sauk Rapids, MN, and Marlene Grant, of Lead, SD; her brother Melvin Maust, of Mesa, AZ; ten grandchildren; and nineteen great-grandchildren. Doris was preceded in death by her sons, Brian and Wesley Johnson; her parents; and her sister, Jayne Maier and one grandson.

Funeral services will be Friday, March 26, 2004, at the Seventh Day Adventist Church with Pastor John Morrison and Pastor Trevor Delafield officiating. Friends may visit from 5-7 on Thursday at the Brenny Funeral Chapel and again on Friday one hour before the service at the church. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Brainerd. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Brenny Funeral Chapel of Baxter.
