Doris Holtz

Doris Augusta Holtz, 82, of Pine River, died Thursday, August 20, 2009, at St. Joseph's Medical Center, Brainerd. She was born August 4, 1927, in rural Pequot Lakes to Carl and Nellie (Severson) Paulson. Doris graduated from Pine River High School. On July 31, 1948, she married Albert Holtz in Pine River. They were married almost 49 years before his death in 1997.

Doris enjoyed playing Bingo and in her younger years was an avid bowler. She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Pine River and the American Legion Auxiliary for 29 years.

She is survived by her daughters: Sharon Finn (Brian) of Rickreall, OR, Bonnie Ellestad (Rick) of Pine River; six grandchildren, eight step grandchildren, three step great grandchildren; sisters: Rose Halverson of Stacy, MN, Lorraine Ryan of Roseville, MI; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert; son, Albert, Jr.; sisters: Anna Ecker, Clarissa Larson, Arlene Johnson; brothers: Clifford Paulson, Paul Paulson, Alvin Paulson, Clarence Paulson; and one infant sibling.

Services will be 11 AM on Wednesday, August 26, at First Lutheran Church, Pine River, with Pastor Bonnie Lomen officiating. Burial will follow at the Jenkins Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 to 7 PM at Kline Funeral Home, Pine River, and one hour prior to services at the church.
