Doris Vera (Falldorf) Anderson, 97, of Pequot Lakes, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2018, at Birchwood Samaritan House in Brainerd, MN. Doris was born January 16, 1921, to Henry and Dora (Schuller) Falldorf on a farm in Hamilton County, near Phillips, Nebraska where she grew up and attended school.
In 1940, Doris moved to Wadena, MN where her brother Harry and wife Emily farmed. While working as a waitress in a local café she met her future husband, Walter. She and Walter married Feb. 17, 1942, in Las Vegas, NV and made their first home in North Hollywood, CA. During WWII Doris and Walter worked for Bendix Aviation and Lockheed respectively. They returned to Wadena in 1944 where Walter was part owner of Anderson Floral. In 1947 they purchased and operated a movie theater in Parkers Prairie, MN. In 1949 they bought land on Whitefish Lake, Pine River, MN, and during the 50’s added electricity, a boat harbor, cabins and a phone line, naming the property Delta Bay Resort. Doris liked fishing and the bluegills were nervous. In 1970 they sold the resort and built a home in Jenkins. Walter passed away in 1974. Doris worked at Pfeiffer Pharmacy in Pequot Lakes for 25 years and retired in 1996. She moved to East Twin Lake where she enjoyed flower gardening, quilting, knitting, baking and her grandchildren.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and siblings: Fred, Mabel, Harry, Lucille, and Vesta. She is survived by son, Paul, of Edmond, OK; daughter, Joyce (Kevin) Olson, of Pequot Lakes; grandchildren: Sonja (Adam) Dewing of Oakdale, Leif Olson of Duluth and Kjerstin Olson of St. Paul; along with several nieces, nephews and dear friends.
The family thanks the staff and management of Woodland Good Samaritan, Birchwood Samaritan House, and St. Croix Hospice for their compassionate care.
