Doris Anderson

January 8, 1925 — July 9, 2015

Doris Anderson, age 90, of Brainerd, passed away Thursday, July 9, 2015, at the Good Samaritan Society-Woodland, Brainerd. She was born to William and Harriet Dahlberg on January 8, 1925, in Minneapolis. Doris graduated from North High School in Minneapolis. She worked as a legal secretary until marrying Alvin and moving to Crystal, MN.

Doris loved school and was voted into the National Honor Society. Her favorite subjects were handwriting, typing and shorthand.

Doris gave birth to four children and devoted herself to her family. Cooking, entertaining and raising her children took all of her time but she still managed fun adult vacations with Alvin and her friends. After retiring from the Minneapolis YWCA where she worked as a secretary, she and Alvin moved to Lake Ossawinamaukee in Breezy Point. Together they built a beautiful home and made wonderful friends. Their busy social life included pontoon parties, seasonal lake celebrations and traveling to Spain, Africa, Yellowstone National Park and many cruise destinations. Doris was the heart and brains of the extended family with holiday celebrations of beauty. Her favorite cookbook was "The Northwoods Cookbook" and the wild rice mushroom recipe was the best.

Doris is survived by her children: Lonnee Dickson (Dennis), Tim Anderson (Kris), Tom Anderson, Chuck Anderson; and grandchildren: Tate, Cory, Alyssa, Jessie, Reno, Volante, and Katelyn.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alvin; and brother, Willard Dahlberg.

Services will be 2 PM on Saturday, July 18, at Woodland Good Samaritan Chapel, 200 Buffalo Hills Lane, Brainerd. Memorials are preferred to Breath of Life Daycare, 200 Buffalo Hills Lane, Brainerd, MN 56401.
