Doreen was born in Minneapolis on July 8, 1961, and was the first-born daughter of Kelly and Jeanie (Mertens) Johnson. She embraced the role of being the oldest sibling – it really defined who she was. Doreen graduated from Northfield Senior High School in 1979. She moved to Faribault where she met Lenny Walderon with whom she would share her life for the next forty years. They enjoyed music, camping, traveling, gardening, and going to the casino together. Lenny passed away in February of 2023.

Family was most important to Doreen. She revealed her love of family with her hosting of many family reunions, her passion for Ancestry.com, her participation in family vacations, and her love of scrapbooking. Her kitchen was often the heart of her home, where she could be found baking and cooking, always with open arms for anyone who came to visit. Her beloved cats were always by her side. Over the years, she worked at Holiday and IWCO where she made many life-long friends.

Doreen is survived by her parents Kelly and Carol Johnson; siblings Barb (Larry) Peterson, Dennis (Karen) Johnson, Theresa (Fred) Rezac, Kelly (Chuck) Schiefelbein; nieces Elizabeth Rezac, Olivia Rezac, Daley Peterson; nephews Lake Peterson, Jacob Rezac, Chris (Cindy) Rezac – and their son – Doreen’s Great-Nephew – expected to arrive in May 2025; sister-in-law Jeanie Weierke; stepchildren Maia Kershaw, Jenny Shannon, Jason Ahlman; best friend Sandy Black; her cats Buddy and Baby; and Doreen’s many other relatives.

She is preceded in death by her husband Lenny; her mom Jeanie Pemrick; parents-in-law Evelyn and Jim Paquette; sister-in-law Mardi Walderon; stepdaughter Jackie Ahlman; and her cats Goofy and Benny.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 2pm-5pm at her home in Randall on March 2, 2025.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Brenny Family Funeral Chapel, Randall.
