DonnaKay Burke

DonnaKay Burke, 64, of Baxter, passed away Friday, July 25, 2008 at St. Joseph �s Medical Center in Brainerd. Memorial Services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, July 29, 2008, at the Brenny Funeral Chapel of Baxter. Friends may call beginning at 1:00 PM on Tuesday.
DonnaKay Berquist Burke was born on May 28, 1944, in Minneapolis , MN , the daughter of Kenneth G. and Naida (Hahn) Berquist. She graduated from Wayzata High School in 1962. On June 4, 1964, she was united in marriage to Ronald Burke in Excelsior, MN. To this union 3 children were born. DonnaKay was a devoted wife and mother. She was a mom, teacher, coach, and confidant. She loved history, crafts, sewing, quilting, and was an accomplished artist. She very much enjoyed being outdoors doing gardening and taking care of animals. But the real love of her life was her family and her friends. She volunteered for hospice and was a volunteer driver. In June of 2005 the couple moved to Baxter where she loved to visit, have coffee, share potluck, and entertain her neighbors.

DonnaKay was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Naida. She will be greatly missed by her husband of 44years, Ronald; children, Christopher J. (Lisa) Burke of Port Richey, FA, Jonathon Scott (Tammy) Burke of Cass Lake, MN, and Jennifer (Keith Lubins) Burke of Aitkin, MN; 8 grandchildren, Trevor, Brittany, Ashley, Samantha, Christopher, Amanda, Kristen, and Jessica; and a sister, Charlene (Doug) Bates of Princeton, MN.
