Donna Mathe

Donna Mathe died Friday September 3, 2021 at Lakewood Health System in Staples. Funeral services will be Saturday September 25, 2021 at the Brenny Family Funeral Chapel in Staples, Minnesota. There will be a visitation one hour prior to the service, from 10:00am - 11:00am, with the service beginning at 11:00am. Burial will be at the Oak Valley Cemetery.

Donna Faye Mathe (Anderson) was born December 22, 1938 to Jesse and Elizabeth (McGowan) Anderson, in Verndale, Minnesota, where she loved growing up in a large family and spending time with her siblings, nieces and nephews.

On July 17, 1964, in St. Paul, Minnesota, Robert and Donna joined their families in marriage. In 1981, they moved their family to Staples, Minnesota where she worked at the VFW and did various cleaning jobs.

Donna enjoyed playing cards, dice, hunting, fishing, dancing, and spending time with her family and friends. She was known for her famous caramel popcorn.

Donna was a special woman who seemed to be everyone’s Aunt. She loved unconditionally, was free-spirited, and always knew what to say to make you feel better.

Donna is survived by her children, Ronald (Julie), Cheryl (Jay), Robert (Mary), Russ (Lorna), her grandchildren, Maggie (Darrell), Bobbyjo (Nate), Adam (Tami), Andy (Robyn), Alan (Ashley), Aaron (Monica), Collette, Jeremiah (Sarah), Claudette, Justin Ash, Les Ash, Kassie Ash, 19 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert, sons Billy and Chad, one great-grandchild, and all 15 of her siblings.

Her family would like to thank the Lakewood Health System’s staff for all of the kindness and care shown to her in the last moments of her life, and a special thank you to the Brenny Family Funeral Home.
