Donna Jacobson

Donna Lavone (Nelson) Jacobson was born in Avoca, MN on August 22, 1924 to Arthur F. and Ellen Nelson. She graduated from Slayton High School and Gustavus Adolphus College.

She met Henry C. "Jake" Jacobson while teaching high school in Clarkfield, MN after he returned from WWII. They were married in June 1947, and remained married for 63 years. Jake preceded her in death in 2010.

Donna and Jake lived in the Brainerd Lakes Area from 1961 until they moved to Woodland Good Samaritan Assisted Living in 2005. Donna spent the past nine years at Woodland, fighting the progression of Parkinson's disease.

Donna was preceded in death by her husband, Jake; her parents; and two brothers, Armond and Leroy Nelson.

She is survived by her children, Lynn (Steve) McCulloch, of Greenwood Village, CO, Yvette (Ron) Zgak, of Downer's Grove, IL, Dick (Karen) Jacobson, Shakopee, Lori (Darren) Cronquist, of Brainerd, and Cindy (Russ) Sheehan, of Breezy Point; eight grandchildren, Amanda McColluch Bakulski, Dustin Jacobson, Kevin McCulloch, Beth Jacobson Currie, Sara Anderson Karppinen, Nicholas Anderson, Traci Anderson, and Rylie Anderson; seven great-grandchldren, Kalyn, Madelun, Brayden, William, Carter, Collin, and Selah; sister, Ada (Hiram) Drache, of Moorhead; two nephews; and her niece.

Memorial Services will be held at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at Good Samaritan Village - Woodland Chapel, #100 BLDG in Brainerd.
