Donald Orth

Donald “Don” Eugene Orth, 86, of Backus, beloved father, grandfather, and great grandfather and dad to many others passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, and went home to his Lord and Savior. He was born in Austin, MN, to Ora and Maureen Orth on November 26, 1935.

In 1962, Don and Mary moved to the Pine River-Backus area and shortly after the rest of his family joined him - his mom and dad and 7 brothers. He served 2 years in the MN National Guard.

Don loved being together with his family and friends. Between farming and his secondhand shop Don, did what he loved. Don loved his community and was always willing to lend a helping hand or help anyone in need. He will be remembered for his generosity, his sense of humor, work ethic, and huge heart for others.

Don is survived by his sons: Randy Orth, Rick Orth, Scott Orth, Shane Orth; daughter, Christie Brown (Josh); former wife and dear friend, Mary; brothers: Vernon (JoAnn), Marlen (Jane), Jerry; 13 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Leroy, Ronnie, Larry, and Mike.

Services will be 2 PM on Saturday, March 12, at Pine Mountain Gospel, Backus. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
