Donald Olds

Donald D. Olds, age 68, of rural Staples, MN, passed away Friday, December 18, 2009, at his home following a long struggle with Systemic Scleroderma. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, December 22, at the Brenny Funeral Chapel of Staples. Friends are welcome to gather on Monday, December 21, from 5:00 until 7:00 at the Brenny Funeral Chapel and also on Tuesday for one hour prior to services. Interment with full military honors will be in Evergreen Hill Cemetery at Staples.
Donald D. Olds was born on July 5, 1941, in Belle Fourche, SD, the son of George and Leona (McCamish) Olds. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, four wheeling, camping, gardening, and spending time with his grandchildren. Upon graduating from Sebeka High School he entered the U.S. Army serving during the Vietnam War from 1964 to 1966. He was united in marriage to Renee Larson on January 28, 1967, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Staples. Don worked as the meter man for the City of Staples for 29 years, retiring in 2004.

Donald is survived by his wife, Renee; two children, Shari (Steve) Fellman and Brian (Tasha) Olds, all of Staples; brother, Jack (Char) Olds of Owatonna, MN; four grandchildren, Brent, Jayme, Chelsea, and Reed; also many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Leona; and two brothers, Max and Bob.
