Don Orrin Norton was Born January 6, 1923 in Minneapolis, MN to Candice & Emily 'Marion' (Jenkins). He never graduated from high school and served for a while at the CCC Camp in Chisholm, MN. While there, Pearl Harbor was bombed and Don received permission to sign up for the US Army and enlisted Jan. 15, 1941. He served in the Amer-ical Division in Guadalcanal, Northern Solomons & Southern Philippines. He was honorably discharged Aug. 30, 1945. Upon returning home he met his first girlfriend, Gloria Olson and married her February 14, 1947. After a few unsuccessful job attempts Donald joined the MN Army National Guard until his retirement.
Donald is survived by his children Kathy Jean Norton, Timothy (Dottie) Norton, Mike (Kathy) Norton, Dennis (Daninne Egizio), Kevin (Darcie) Norton, Shawn (Nancy) Norton, & Colleen (Murrey) Anderson; 20 grandchildren; many great grandchildren and counting. He was preceded in death by his wife Gloria (12/20/18), his parents Candice & Marion, his brothers James & Robert and a great granddaughter, Kerri Ann Norton.
In lieu of the close proximity of death, Don and Gloria funeral were held together December 27, 2018. A public Memorial Service will be held for Donald at the Camp Ripley Base Chapel July 1, 2019 at 11:00am, followed by a lunch at the Base Town Hall.
