Donald Langland

Donald Langland, age 79, of Pequot Lakes, passed away Monday, April 27, 2009. He was born January 7, 1930 in Slayton, MN, to John and Myrtle Langland. Don served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and was a member of the Pequot Lakes American Legion.
Don was a retired member of the Slayton Fire Department and was a charter member of the Ideal Township Fire Department. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Pequot Lakes where he was very active in many committees including the Worship Committee, Board of Trustees and Pasty making. Don loved woodworking and built numerous furnishings for the church such as the pulpit furniture, baptismal font, altar table, the cross hanging in the sanctuary, and many other items. He also loved canoeing and hunting.
Don is survived by his wife, Shirley; children: Laura Hofius (Larry), Charles Langland (Mary), Mary Lewandowski (John); sisters: Irene Worden, Linda Petit; brother, Philip Langland; grandchildren: Dee Maki (Adam), Matthew and Carly Langland, Alyssa, Lukas and Sheelah Lewandowski; great grandchildren, Taylor and Taryn Maki; sister-in-law, Sylvia Shepherd; his church family and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred and may be sent to Habitat For Humanity.
Services will be 11 AM on Saturday, May 2, at Grace United Methodist Church, Pequot Lakes, with Pastor Dianne Ciesluk officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 5 to 7 PM at Kline Funeral Home, Pequot Lakes, and one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Inurnment will be 11 AM on Monday, May 4, at Minnesota State Veteran's Cemetery, Camp Ripley.
