Donald Kelcher

Donald C. Kelcher, age 67, of Pillager, died Tuesday, March 1, 2005 in Brainerd. Funeral services will be Saturday, March 5, 1 p.m., at Merrifield Community Church of the Nazarene, with Reverend Larry Harshman officiating. Friends may visit Friday, March 4, 5-7 p.m., at Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter. Services will be followed by cremation, with private interment.
Donald Casimir Kelcher was born November 4, 1937 in South St. Paul, to Casimir and Eva (Schultz). He grew up in St. Paul. He served in the Air Force from 1961-1962, and was stationed in France. He moved to the Merrifield area in 1964. He was united in marriage to Helene (Murrer) in Brainerd on September 5, 1975. He worked in sales for Meyers Cleaners for more than twenty years. He also worked as an electronic assembler at Nortech prior to his retirement. He and Helene recently moved to Sylvan Township near Pillager. Donald was a member of Community Church of the Nazarene in Merrifield. His faith meant a great deal to him. He had read the Bible through each year since 1988. He was a loving and caring man who had many talents, including music and mechanics. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, motorcycles, and guns. He was always busy, even in retirement. He helped his children and grandchildren with projects, and had been working on the church addition.

Donald is survived by Helene, his wife of 29 years; children Cathie (Greg) Pearson, of Aitkin, Kim Hardy, of Brainerd, Randy (Roxanne) Hardy, of Nisswa, and Cindy Meierhofer, of Brainerd; a sister, Ann (Phil) Hinz, of Fairmont; grandchildren Tanya (Kevin) Pietz, Chad Hardy, Melissa Pearson, Trent Pearson, Tyler Hardy, Kelsie Engholm, Andrew Meierhofer, Samuel Hardy, and Summer Hardy; great grandson Arik Pietz, and nieces and nephews Gayle, Cheryl, Allen, Steve, and Jeanette.
