Donald Geisler, 50, of Brainerd, died accidentally Saturday, August 26, 2006, while working in the woods in Longville. A gathering celebrating the life of Don will start at 10 a.m. Thursday, August 31st at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter with a Memorial Service at 11:30 a.m. and a luncheon immediately following. Don didnt appreciate stuffy, formal occasions. Therefore, casual attire is encouraged, and even camouflaged clothing is acceptable.
Donald Richard Geisler was born July 8, 1956 to Richard and Esther (Wagner) Geisler in Minneapolis. He lived in Fridley and Coon Rapids before the family settled in Big Lake in 1968. In 1974, he graduated from Big Lake High School before attending both Bemidji State and St. Cloud State Universities. He was united in marriage to Christine (Chris) Serflaten in 1977. The couple settled in Big Lake where Don continued to work for D&E Cabinets out of Anoka (1971-1985). They moved to Brainerd in 1985 and Don worked for Kampmanns Sash and Door, Terrys Tops & More, and Floor to Ceiling Store.
Don enjoyed the outdoors and nature. His year was divided into three seasonsgetting ready for the hunting season, the hunting season, and looking forward to the next hunting season. He also loved fishing, riding his motorcycle, and playing with his pet bobcat. Don was a skilled craftsman when working with wood, and his Brainerd home and Longville cabin are filled with examples of his talent.
Donny will be missed by his wife, Chris; his mother, Esther, of Big Lake; his sisters, Gladys Billars, of Kaylor, SD, Cheryl Haberman, of Big Lake, and Sandy Schmatz, of Big Lake; and his brother Jeff Geisler, of Princeton, as well as many more family and friends.
