Donald Frisk, age 76, of Motley, passed away at the Lakewood Health System Hospital in Staples on Friday, January 01, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. A funeral service is planned for Saturday, January 9, at 1:00 PM, at the Motley United Methodist Church. A visitation will be held on Friday evening from 5-7 at the Brenny Funeral Home in Staples and one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at the Motley Public Cemetery.
Donald was born in Swanville, MN, on February 14, 1933, the son of Clarence and Helen (Johnson) Frisk. They moved to Motley in1937, where he attended school, graduating in 1951. He served in the Army from 1955to 1957. Upon leaving the Army, he went to work for Northern Pacific Railroad and Burlington Northern. He married Lois (Skeesick) Whitworth on February 12, 1983 and they lived on the family farm. He retired from the railroad in 1994 after 37 years. He enjoyed listening to music and going to Bluegrass Festivals. He also liked sports, especially the Vikings and the Twins.
Donald is survived by his wife, of almost 27 years, Lois; sister, Doris (Bob) Cole; step daughters, Danita (Randy) Sullivan of Cary, NC and Diane (Doug) Stevens of Carthage, NC; grandchildren, Matthew and Julie Sullivan and Leslie and Noelle Stevens. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Waldo and Doug.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Brenny Funeral Home in Staples.
