May 1943 – September 25, 2024
Don Vance of Longville, MN passed away on September 25 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Brainerd, MN.
With a twinkle in his eye and a mischievous spirit, Don was best known for helping those around him. He loved being by the water in Minnesota and in Florida and adored puttering in his yard and garage!
Born in Storm Lake, IA in 1943, Don graduated from Storm Lake High School and received a degree from Buena Vista University. His career began with Dekalb and he and his wife, Sue later purchased Coast to Coast/Ace Hardware in Redwood Falls, MN in 1982, and operated it until his retirement in 2007.
Always active in the community, Don was an incredible supporter of Redwood Area Schools, serving on the Board from 1986-1993.
During the last 15 years, Don and Sue wintered in Fort Myers Beach, Fl and spent summers at the lake outside of Longville. In Florida, Don was a board member of the Port Carlos Cove community, working in the park and constantly on the move, often on his bike! He was an energizer bunny, always ready to help.
Survivors include his wife, Sue; children, Kris Vance (Ginger), Jeff Vance (Ann), Ty Vance (Pam), Lori Peterson (Jeff) and 11 incredible grandkids, Amanda, Katie, Andrew, Carter, Cooper, Jackson, Alexa, Hayden, Spencer, Tess and Quinn. Siblings, Pat Aust (Ernie), John Vance (Muriel), Tom Vance (Fujimi), Bob Vance (Debbie) and Rick Vance (Susan). He will be dearly missed!
