Dolores Ann "Dee" Berg, 82, of Brainerd, died at her home Friday, October 30, 2015, with her family by her side. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, November 5, 2015 at St. Christopher's Catholic Church in Nisswa with Father Mike Patullo officiating. Family and friends are invited to gather Wednesday evening at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter from 5-7 PM. Interment will take place at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery near Camp Ripley.
Dee was born October 19, 1933, the daughter of Raymond and Helen (Veit) Fitzer in Minneapolis. She married Gordon Berg in 1953 and the couple continued to make Minneapolis their home until moving to Wood Lake for three years prior to settling in Brainerd in 1966. Dee was a kind, compassionate, big-hearted lady who was devoted to her family and to her faith. She looked forward to garage sale trips with friends and the frequent excursion to Canada to find a deal there. She loved to have visitors and made sure none who entered her home went hungry - and that the little ones always left with a bag of treats or a dollar bill. Family Yahtzee was always a hit. Bringing Dee flowers was sure to put a smile on her face, as did the daily check-in calls by her family and the many times she was able to dance with her "Biddy". She will be missed by many; especially her family whom she was so proud of and whom she passed along her endless caring and kindness.
She is survived by her husband, Gordon; children, Daniel Berg, of Brainerd, Dennis (Joni) Berg, of Brainerd; and Shelly Kuhn, of St. Cloud; grandchildren, Tiffany, Natasha, Kelly, Casey, and Andrew; great-grandchildren, Nevaeh, Harley, Aydreanna, Brynn, Cade, Corbin, and Brandt; and her siblings, Raymond "Sonny" (Sharon) Fitzer, Jr, Shirley (Gerald) Stumvoll, and Darlene Rodgers. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law, Jim Rodgers.
